Superhero Avengers Birthday Party Ideas

I am still recovering from the Superhero Avengers birthday party we threw for Teddy last week. I posted about some of the easy and fun games we put together for the kids but wanted to also share some of the decorations and food we did as well. All budget-friendly and easily modified.

I posted on my Instagram stories the process of making my first balloon arch, using a kit from Amazon… it was definitely a lot of trial and error. I purchased this electric balloon inflator machine from Amazon and it made blowing up the balloons a breeze. It was the first time I used one of these balloon tying tools (I watched about 10 Youtube videos before getting the hang of it).

I purchased this balloon arch kit from Amazon – it came with plenty of balloons (a little heavy on the yellow color), the balloon tape and the glue dots. I used small Command hooks on the wall to hang the balloon arch. It took me & T about an hour to blow up the balloons and get the larger ones into the tape holes. Then it took about 15 minutes on party day to attach to the wall and attach the smaller, filler balloons with the glue dots (we could’ve done this the night before too, but we were transporting the arch up from the basement and thought it would be too large with everything on it). The kids absolutely loved it.

Special note: the balloons start to deflate after about 36 hours. I was super worried about this so decided not to blow up the balloons and make the arch until the night before the party, just in case. The balloon arch held air fine throughout the party day. A couple of the smaller balloons fell off, but that was probably operator error with the glue dots.

I purchased this Superhero backdrop off Amazon too (notice a trend?) for behind the dessert table.

Our dessert table featured a small decorated Superman cupcake for Teddy (local folks – BabyCakes is awesome for these miniature cupcakes or “smash cakes”), cupcakes & cookies from Sam’s Club, and popcorn goodie bags. In the interest of time, I purchased these pre-made Avengers cupcake toppers, but you could make these yourself with toothpicks and printouts.

Our party was a cookout, so we had brats, hotdogs, chips and some fun, themed snacks. The Captain America fruit shield and Thor’s Hammer pretzel cheese sticks were a big hit. I purchased some ring pops at Dollar Tree (I told y’all not to sleep on the tree!) for Thanos’ Infinity Rings. I also made Hulk Punch out of lemonade mixed with a Kool-Aid packet and a couple of drops of green food coloring. The sweet tea was labeled, “Super Sweet Tea” – emphasis on SUPER.

Outside, we had some tables and chairs set up along with our cooler full of bottled water (“Hero H20”). Pro tip: use a garden shepherd hook to hold trash bags outside. Works like a charm every time for our cookouts and parties. I even made Recycling & Trash signs because I had extra blank signs and I’m extra too.

We had a great time celebrating our favorite four-year-old! If you haven’t already, check out the easy and fun games we played at the party too.
